Tring v Leverstock Green 12 Oct.

Our last game was 2 weeks ago and was the best performance of the season so far, could we keep the momentum going!!!



Tring lose the toss so are kicking downhill first half.

We start the game poorly being second to the ball and very lacklustre in our passing, in truth we don't touch the ball for the first five minutes, hope this is not a sign for things to come.

Leverstock play a long ball game knocking balls up to their forwards early or into the channels for them to chase. This causes our back four a bit of trouble as they are always turning and chasing the ball.



We gradually settle down and try to play our normal football. Our attacks are mostly coming down the left-hand side with Jo, Will B and Max linking us up well trying to get us going.

Ollie upfront is also linking with our midfield, Tring are coming more into the game, but we still lack that spark.

Leverstock are causing problems down our right with Will G having his hands full with their tricky winger. Leverstock take the lead through one of these attacks -

We get overloaded on the right which allows the winger to cut in and cross to the far post for an easy headed goal - 0-1 Leverstock 20 mins

Tring finish the half strongly and equalise on 40 minutes through sheer persistence from Ollie. He nicks the ball off a defender and drives into the box, his shot is smothered by the keeper but he fails to hold onto it, Ollie picks up the rebound and passes it into the net for a well deserved goal - 1-1 Tring 40mins

Kicking up the Hill second Half we find ourselves under pressure for the first 5-10 minutes, but come under no real goal threat.

As the game progresses it becomes evident that this will be a game of few chances and even fewer goals, due to the lack of quality show.

The next goal will be the decisive oneand it was the visitors who would score it. our centre back gets caught in possession and just recovers back to force a corner.

The ball is swung in and missed by our keeper leaving an easy head in from their number 6 goal - 1-2 Leverstock 65 mins

A number of substitutions later Tring can only muster the odd chance. we start throwing more and more men forward but just can't seem to carve out a clear chance for the equaliser.

Summary

A disappointing result coupled with quite a lack lustre performance. We defended well but just couldn't get our passing game going well enough to win the game.
