A mammoth task facing a team 5th in the Hellenic Premier Division was not made easier by players arriving late due to an accident on the M25.

Although there can be no doubt the better team won we didn't help ourselves by being at least partly responsible for 3 of their goals.

Having started well enough against well organised opponents we then vacated the area on the edge of the D from their corner and a shot from this area took a deflection to open the scoring after 6 mins.

We found it difficult to put any pressure on their goal but defended reasonably well until after 20 mins we got caught in possession and from the free kick given away as a result Flackwell Heath scored their second.

Again without particularly threatening we kept our opponents at bay with a bit more comfort and we're hoping to go in the 2 goals down and maybe, just maybe, just get something going down the slope in the second half. Unfortunately in the 40th minute our fate was sealed. A combination of good passing, ball control and off the ball movement, which exemplified the difference in standard resulted in a 3rd goal.

A combination of Flackwell Heath maybe taking their foot off the pedal and certainly a marked improvement in ourselves made the second half far more competitive.

We started to play balls into good areas. Custodian Luke Midwinter only really had one save to make and with 15 mins remaining Callum Gregory hit their bar with a clever chip from 20 yards with their keeper beaten. The ball was then lost in a dangerous area and presented the 4th goal to the worthy winners.

Of the few plusses was 90mins from Colm Parrot on return from injury and generally I think the whole team saw and hopefully learnt a bit about football at the next level. I am sure this will stand us in good stead in future games.

I'd also like to put on paper my thanks for everyone involved for their efforts in getting to this game which in some instances involved 2 hour journeys and not inconsiderable expense. The God of Football owes us one!!!
