Suburban Football League Challenge Shield Quarter Final
TAFC Reserve team 3-2 North Greenford

TAFC goals: Max Hercules (pen), Ollie Ruttle, Joe McInroy- Naylor
The reserves come from behind twice & grab a late winner

In a game that was generally low on quality but high on action we reached the semi final if the Challenge Plate with a Joe Naylor winner in the 94 th minute with penalties looming( no extra time in this competition)

Playing up the hill our opposition had not touched the ball when one of our forwards was on the back foot ,the ball was nicked and one pass opened up our defence for a tidy finish by the North Greenford Utd centre forward. 1-0
Undeterred we pushed our opponents back and were unfortunate to hit the post twice and put 2 good chances over the bar. With our recent run confidence was understandably at a low we snatched at opportunities and either passed the ball too slowly or forced it. Eventually we managed to get a cross of some quality into the area and Mesach Hendrickson was fouled . Max Hercules despatched the spot kick with his usual aplomb.1-1.

We then lost Ollie Butler to a hamstring injury and he was replaced by George Hill, from Cliff Herculess U 18s and after a slow start he improved visibly and grew into the pace of the game. Our opponents didn't really create any real chances but it wasn't a pretty spectacle and we failed to make our superiority count.

Playing down the slope we contrived to give up possession when a midfielder failed to stand his opponent up and after a mazy run which should have been stopped and following an excellent save by Mark Richardson our opponents retook the lead in the 3 rd minute of the second half.1-2.

Once again sleeves were rolled up and Joe Naylor missed at the near post after a driving run and then somehow the ball bobbled around at a corner without going in we continued to seek the equaliser. North Greenford Utd were dangerous on the break and custodian Mark Richardson had to be alert.
Having kicked everything the opponents goalkeeper attempted to play early. His pass was intercepted by George Hill and his first time pass was converted by Ollue Ruttle, who worked hard throughout.2-2

We now started playing longer off the front man and with 2 mins remaining changes were made to make sure we were set up,for a possible penalty shoot out. Gareth Terrablanche was unlucky not to get onto a pass in front of goal and Cam Brooks provided a threat on the right.
In the 94 min. from a corner the ball again went back and across their goal line till Joe Naylor nodded in. 3-2

As ever with this team no lack of effort and commitment and we now look forward to a semi final away to Maidenhead, who we coincidentally face at home in the League on Wednesday, our 4th game in 8 days!!!
