St Mary's Cup Semi Final
Leverstock Green 1-2 TAFC First team TAFC goals: Luke Dunstan, Jack Read
Tring reached the St Marys Cup final again, thanks to a hard fought 2-1 victory at Leverstock green on Tuesday evening. We now face Southern Premiere side Kings Langley in the Final friday week
The game started pretty evenly with not many chances for either side, Jack Read shooting over after 10 minutes, and Levy's Johnson forcing a save from Jack Hopwood in the Tring goal after 22 minutes. Three minutes later Adams took the ball round Hopwood only for Tring to clear.
Luke Dunstan broke the stalemate in the 39th minute, with a superb strike from 20 yards after good work from Ollie Butler although Leverstock were quite rightly upset as a throw was given to Tring in the build up to the goal. The game began getting a bit tetchy with a few tackles flying in from both teams.
HT Leverstock Green 0 Tring Athletic 1
Tring lost young Ben Johnson early in the 2nd half. Seb Smith coming on at right back, with Tommy Twelves switching to left back, and it was from his through ball to Jack Read inside the area that gave Athletic a deserved 2-0 lead. This was Jack's 10th goal in 15 starts for Tring since he signed from Welwyn after Christmas.
Our two goal advantage only lasted 3 minutes with Green producing some great football on the left, where Donaldson crossed to Adams, who knocked the ball back accross goal for Vicente to tap in. Score 1-2.
The last 20 minutes of the game saw Leverstock put Tring under lots of pressure, Hopwood making a great save from Adams and then former Tring defender Shane Wood heading wide from a corner. Tring managed to see out the final few minutes before the referee blew to end an entertaining evenly fought local derby.
